At Humber and Lawrence..
Our first ride was July 20 2012 from Beaches to Humber (40.5 km). At the moment we are three women whose age range spans a 1/4 century between youngest and oldest, but we all keep pace. The funny thing about this newly formed club is I was looking for people to cycle with at my speed -- a search which took me through the bloggesphere to someone in Texas who recommended WomanTours. I signed up for a 4 day tour as a way to kickstart my training. The tour started in Buffalo and was amazing. But the kicker was because it inspired me to get out and train every morning, I met two other women -- neighbours on our tiny half block street who were also cyclists, whose speed matched mine, and we have begin to cycle locally in earnest. Go figure, from Texas to Buffalo to right next door. Like Woody Allen said "the most important thing in life is to show up." So here we are. Second ride together was today --Beaches to Humber and up the Humber River to Lawrence, and back for a total of 67 km... For women who are looking to get started cycling, to do more than the trip to the local store, just get out there, it's surprising who you might find to cycle with!
